It is estimated that worldwide 100 – 200 million children and young persons live on the streets of urban areas.
These youths know about their precarious situation and suffer from it.
To make the "best” of it, they build up defence mechanisms such as alcohol and drug consumption and prostitution.

To grow up in an atmosphere of extreme poverty and violence deprives these children of the basic form of human experience: protection, attention, care, love. That is why they continuously are in search of relationships, of a home.
This search should be taken seriously – otherwise we run the risk to "lose” these human beings.
